Los Angeles County
teachers are invited to participate in the School
Violence Prevention Demonstration Program. This program
is funded by a grant from the United States Department
of Education and administered by the Center for Civic
Education. This program provides professional
development for teachers of 5th and 8th
grade students in U.S. History, civics and government.
It provides teachers with an innovative curriculum and
teaching strategies created by the Center for Civic
Education. Teacher participants in this project will
receive classroom sets of curriculum materials and eight
days of professional development training during the
2009-2010 school year. Trainings will take place once a
month on Saturdays from 9am-3pm in Burbank (location
TBD). Continental breakfast and lunch are included.
Teachers will also receive an honorarium of $800 or 2
LAUSD salary point credits and $300 once all project
components have been completed.
Dates: October 17 th, November 21st, December 5th, January 30th, February 27th and March 20 th, April 17th
and May 1st.

- Expand support networks among educator and institutions
