1) MEMBERSHIP a. We need to invite new people to our next board meeting on June 6th to become potential board members. b. Mark Elinson will invite i. Valerie Berkowitz ii. Linda Kid iii. And Liza Posas from L.A. as Subject 2) CCSS CONFERENCE (MAR. 5, 6, 7) a. Merrell says that CCSS lost $5000 i. But there is still $5000 in outstanding P.Os b. The CCSS Board says that CCSS is down $70,000 this year i. If CCSS doesn’t make money at the Conference, it is a failure c. 500 people registered i. And about 100 presenter = 600 attendees d. Next year’s conference will be smaller i. Will be at the Pasadena Hilton e. Committees for next years CCSS Conference i. Mark Elinson − Field Trips ii. Amanda Roraback – Publicity iii. Michelle − Program 1. and Eilene? Sarah? iv. Martha − Evaluations v. Merrell - exhibitors vi. Joel − Registration and 1st Timers 1. with Martha as a stand-in if Joel can’t be there f. Friday night Reception i. No more budget from CCSS ii. Need to find someone to fund it iii. Possibly the museums can work together. iv. History next year will be March 13, 2010. 4) SCSSA BANQUET a. May 26th (Tuesday) b. At the UCLA Faculty Sequoia Room c. 5:30 – 8:30 d. Dinner will be at 6:00 e. Winners i. Moffett Award 1. Tom Andrews ii. Perryman Award 1. Will be a department award. 2. Given by Bonnie Sima? iii. Presidents Award 1. Martha’s choice iv. Friend of SCSSA 1. Bo Martin 2. Jackie will give this award v. Michelle will (or has) sent message to 800 in her listserv d. Need close to 100 attendees e. Martha has 120 people on a list of 5th graders in South Central

???? Hugo Pedrosa? Flyers????? 7) SOLOIST a. Kimberly Burbower is a “big picture” instructor b. She writes guides for movies with a social message c. Currently writing a curriculum for The Soloist d. Hygiene kits? e. She’s offering screening passes for the Soloist to board members only. f. Mark Elinson will send us emails with the information.
