What is the Perryman Fund?
The Perryman Fund is a non-profit organization
established as a memorial to Don Perryman, an early leader in the
social studies.
Dr. Don Perryman was a leading member of the Southern
California Council for the Social Studies. As the
Instructional Supervisor for Secondary Social Studies in the Los
Angeles Unified School District, Don Perryman was a guardian of the
interest of social studies professionals, exerting strong leadership
and advocacy for the field. He was a leader in the development
of creative and innovative social studies curriculum and
instruction.
His untimely death on June 27, 1974, at the age of
51, was a great loss to social studies education in the State of
California. Those who knew him created this fund as a lasting
memorial to his leadership in social studies education. The
Perryman Fund of the social Studies seeks to support teachers and
others with the same vision and passion. |
